[120615] Jung Yumi mentions Park Yuchun in her interview

I thought Park Yoochun would be someone who know about his popularity and position. I thought he would be the hardest to become a friend with. I also had prejudices about the fact he was originally a singer.

However, from the first filming on, he showed an explosive affinity. Not only me, but also to the other staffs, actors and actresses, he approached intimately. And seeing this, I thought to myself that I thought wrong. He worked hard to the extent of not making one think of him as a singer because his feeling as an actor was strong. And that’s why I am thankful to him.

[120614] Park Yoochun’s special aura in daily life

Singer and actor Micky Yoochun as seen at Mekeyong Media for an interview.

Handsome’ and ‘cool’ are not enough to describe him. He changes the air around him and mental destruction is when you make eye contact with him.

He’s got this special aura about him. He laughs, plays jokes and doesn’t care about what’s around him. He is so unrealistic.

He’s a model just standing still.

He refers to everyone on site and seems different from when we see him on TV.

However, when the camera is on, he is a professional.

When he comes back to daily life, he is free again and a romanticist. He is a wonderful young man in his 20s.

Attention around him doesn’t settle easily even when he is walking out.

[120613] Interview- Park Yoochun, This man has been hooked on acting properly

“Acting is very interesting. Through Rooftop Prince, I was happy to know how interesting it could be when expressing the character.”

The JYJ member, the fore-runner of the Korean Wave and the idol member who send fans from all over the world into a frenzy – Park Yoochun. He is also called an ‘actor’. Among the ‘acting-dols’ (idols who act) who we can easily see in dramas, Park Yoochun is really unequaled. Comparing to other ‘acting-dols’, or rather the standards of other actors, Park Yoochun’s acting is really good. It is amazing as he is originally a singer.

Park Yoochun was different from the start. In his first acting appearance in Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010), he showed his acting ability. In the following year, he acted in Miss Ripley and the SBS drama Rooftop Prince that has just completed its broadcast recently. In all three dramas, his acting ability was so superb that people wonder if he was originally an actor.

Now, Park Yoochun has gotten the ‘taste’ of acting properly. In just three dramas, we cannot say if his experience came early or late. Through Rooftop Prince, he has strengthened his position as an actor firmly and got to experience the ‘taste’ of acting completely. Now, it is the start of feeling the fun and happiness of acting. It is clear that actor Park Yoochun will show even better performances in the future. So, we will wait even longer to see him again.

“Rooftop Prince is a drama that I have relied on and received comfort from.”

- While acting in Rooftop Prince, you have received favourable reviews?
It is not because my acting is good; rather I think my personal experiences were shown through my acting. I really felt that experiences help in it. As I have experienced crying bitterly before, it was possible for me to cry in scenes like that. I think I used a lot of personal experiences as a basis in this drama. When encountering another dramas, I also feel nervous as I face limitations. So now, I want to experience many things since I have the ability and time to do it. Even if I am out having a meal, I am a person who always observes people’s small movements.

- In your view, what kind of drama is Rooftop Prince?
It was a drama that I have a lot of affection for. I think I only found out how much love I have for the drama after it was completed. I had affection for the drama itself, but it was a drama that had meaning for Lee Gak and myself. Although I had many shortcomings, I was glad that I was able to act more naturally as compared to the previous drama and immerse into the role of Lee Gak. Also, it was a drama that I have depended on. Since I had plunged into the drama, I was able to act and I received comfort for what I had been experiencing at that point in time. I only recognized it after the drama had ended.

- Rooftop Prince clinched the first place in viewers’ rating of the Wednesday-Thursday dramas at the last moment. What is the secret to its success?

When I received the script for episode 19 and 20, I really felt the longing that Lee Gak (Park Yoochun) and Park Ha (Han Ji Min) had for each other. So, I could act in a realistic way. Actually, when I was reading the script for the last episode, I was hoping that the viewers’ ratings would overturn. Although Rooftop Prince is a fantasy drama, it appeals to anyone who has experienced longing. It was not simply a sad episode for viewers; rather it was a last episode that viewers could cry while watching it together.

- Are you able to break free from the character Lee Gak since you are so immersed in it?

I think I will be able to break free from the role naturally as time passes. I am very thankful to the character. I really feel that Lee Gak is a close friend of mine. I am actually more amazed to find out that I can feel this kind of emotion and feeling from a character in a drama.

- Do Lee Gak’s way of speaking and actions show even though you don’t notice them?

Since the start of the drama, I was troubled by Lee Gak’s way of speaking, pace and dynamics. Among all his actions, I have adopted the action of clasping the hands behind the back and it shows even on a regular day. As I feel comfortable with it, it became natural. I have been clasping my hands behind my back more than I did before. When I walk with my arms beside my body, I feel that they dangle. I have become more conscious of them.
“I just went with it. There were no sense of burden and worry.”

- It seems that you have more affection for Rooftop Prince than your previous drama.

Rooftop Prince was very different from Miss Ripley due to start of the drama shooting and my mental attitude. I felt a huge sense of burden while filming for Miss Ripley. I had little time to prepare and I felt pressure, as I had to act well in this drama just like what I had done in Sungkyunkwan Scandal. I had no confidence in myself. So, I even said that I couldn’t do it during the first shooting. Luckily, I was able to recompose myself and complete the filming till the end. During the start of Rooftop Prince filming, I never once thought that I should do well in it. It was just “Let’s act!”. I just went with it. I didn’t have a sense of burden where I told myself that had to do well. I wasn’t worried if I was able to do it or not. While I was filming like that, I felt that acting was really fun. Through Rooftop Prince, I was happy to know how interesting it could be when expressing the character.

- You had to act as two different characters in the historical and modern times. Were there any difficulties?

As I had many different scenes, I had to focus more since it could falter if I missed even an hour of filming. The most difficult scenes were those with Yong Tae Yong. Lee Gak and Yong Tae Yong’s dialogues and paces were different. So, I found it hard to act as Yong Tae Yong since I had become familiar with acting as Lee Gak. Even if it was Yong Tae Yong, it wasn’t 100% him as Lee Gak imitated Yong Tae Yong. Occasionally, the look in my eyes had to change sharply, so it was hard for me to get into the character in the first half of the drama.

- Between Lee Gak and Yong Tae Yong, who is more similar to you in reality?

It is ambiguous. Yong Tae Yong is a free-spirited person who does things naturally. On the other hand, Lee Gak is a person who is brought up in a confined environment. My liberalism and optimism are more similar to Yong Tae Yong. I think my situation is like Lee Gak after I have become a celebrity. So, I had learned about the sense of responsibility from Lee Gak.

[120605] Park Yoo Chun Shares Thoughts About Possibly Dating Han Ji Min

“If it’s a girl like Han Ji Min, I don’t think I will receive negative comments even if I decide to publicly date her.” This was what JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun stated during a recent interview about his fellow co-star Han Ji Min from the recently ended drama, “Rooftop Prince.”

Prior to this interview, Han Ji Min stated in her own interview, “Yoochun worked so hard that I felt guilty for viewing him with prejudiced eyes since he was originally a singer. He is an actor with one of the best work ethics.” Likewise, Yoochun did not hold back with his praise for Han Ji Min.

He said, “Since she is so easy-going, it was very comfortable to act with her. Even kiss scenes weren’t that hard. We spent four months filming this drama and it seemed like I knew her for over ten years. That’s how comfortable she was to me. When she was Park Ha, I wanted to hug her but when she came back to herself as Ji Min nuna, she was the one who took care of me. She always laughed harder and cried harder at my parts. She always pulled me forward.”

The interviewer asked Yoochun, “Have you ever viewed Han Ji Min as a woman you’d like to date?” He laughed as he answered, “Not at all. But honestly, even I can see how we would fit together very well. That’s the reaction of the viewers as well. I even thought, ‘If I date this kind of person publicly, people would actually like it and cheer for it’ since everyone kept saying we looked good together.”

Finally, the interviewer said, “Han Ji Min once said that she couldn’t imagine a singing Park Yoo Chun.” Then Yoochun replied, “I’ve heard that too. It was unexpected. I’ve never thought of myself that way. So for a moment, I was blank. Whether I am engaged as a singer or an actor, I focus on each part of myself at that certain time. Anyhow, the steps have been laid out so I really hope that our music and appearance on broadcast will be able to happen soon.”

DenW Magazine: The 10 Youthful Stars that Makes our Hearts Flutter Today – No. 9 Park Yoochun

At the beginning, there were more worries than anticipation, more doubts than curiousity. When he was casted to be the scholar Sunjoon in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal”, people couldn’t believe in his acting skills. But to the public, his interpretation of the cold outside, warm inside Joseon flower young master was not just another side to ‘Micky Yoochun’, it was instead a rookie actor filled with potential. In “Rooftop Price”, Park Yoochun who was both dressed in a royal robe and travelled to the past, and modern, appeared to be more skilled and at ease. The brilliance and grace shown in the first drama was maintained.

‘Rooftop Prince’ Yoochun-Han Ji Min’s Love that Lasts 300 Years

During the episode of SBS ‘Rooftop Prince’ that aired on the 23rd of May, Park Yoochun shed tears for his longing for Han Ji Min. Lee Gak (Park Yoochun) becomes time warped back to the Chosun Dynasty and solves the mystery of the murder.
During the episode, Bu Yong (Han Ji Min) dies after intentionally eating the dried persimmons that had poisonous powder on them provided by Hwa Yong (Hong Se Na) in order to save the crowned prince Lee Gak (Park Yoochun). Prior to the event, the princess (Hong Se Na) followed her father’s orders to put poison on the dried persimmons. Bu Yong catches on to the situation and asks Lee Gak to award him with the persimmons for solving Lee Gak’s riddle.
Bu Yong eats the poisoned persimmons and saves Lee Gak’s life. The reason Bu Yong ate the persimmons without revealing the evil plot was because she knew the danger her family could face if she revealed the truth.
Lee Gak finds a letter written by Bu Yong. Before her death, Bu Yong wrote ‘There are some good things about death. I can say something that I have kept secret all my life. I loved you. I was fond of you from the very beginning. I’ll live even in death, I’ll die even with life, even after hundreds of year, I will love you.’
From then on, Lee Gak cannot help but remember Park Ha (Han Ji Min) even after 300 years have passed. Lee Gak sheds tears remembering the members that had happened. Lee Gak writes a letter to Park Ha, ‘Park Ha, I arrived safely. How are you? If you could read this letter, it must be 300 years from now,’ and hid the letter under a pillar in the palace.
Park Ha finds the letter 300 years later in the present time and longs for the love of her life Lee Gak.

Park Yoo Chun Shows He Can Act with His Feet on ‘Rooftop Prince

Park Yoo Chun moved his viewers to tears

with his feet.

The May 23 broadcast of SBS’ Rooftop Princeshowed Park Ha (Han Ji Min) come close to death after being hit by Yong Tae Moo’s (Lee Tae Sung) car.

Yong Tae Moo tried to kill Lee Gak (Park Yoo Chun) by hitting him with his car, but Park Ha unexpectedly jumped in and took the blow. Lee Gak made it out without a scratch because Park Ha had pushed him out of the way, but Park Ha herself was hit and pushed into a lake.

The image of Lee Gak sobbing over Park Ha floating on the water overlapped with the image of Lee Gak sobbing over the death of his Crown Princess at Joseon’s Buyongji and brought the drama’s viewers to tears.

They seemed especially impressed at how Lee Gak’s every step expressed the extreme sadness he was feeling - which is especially ironic, considering that Koreans use the term
acting with your feet to indicate something negative.

Viewers left reactions such as, ‘I thought my heart would burst when Lee Gak walked listlessly calling out to Park Ha’, ‘His every step drips with tears’ and ‘I wish Lee Gak would go through a time slip again.’

Rooftop Prince will come to a close with its 20th episode on May 24.

Park Yuchun: I Am the Man from Comic

Actor Park Yuchun is winning the praises from viewers and production team with skilled acting and humane charm. Park Yuchun is playing two roles of Crown Prince Lee Gak who came from ancient Joseon Dynasty and third generation chaebol of modern times, Yong Tae Yong in SBS miniseries “Rooftop Prince“.

Park Yuchun has played very well the role of Lee Gak as the unconscious Yong Tae Yong in the “Rooftop Prince” that culminated in reasoning and confrontation. Park Yoochun is showing a variety of images, such as the funny look during the chaos experienced by Lee Gak when he traveled to modern era, the dignified look when dealing with his subjects, the sad yet moving eyes when looking at the woman he loved, Park Ha (Han Ji Min), through and through look when resolving the things and conspiracies around him, and he also perfectly interpreted them.

The drama ranks at the second place in terms of viewership ratings among dramas broadcast the same time slot, but the popularity of Park Yuchun has been exceeding the drama which ranked at the top. Even the new words such as “Crown Prince syndrome” were made. Park Yoochun recently won the first place for the title of ‘man who walks out from comic’, dubbed ‘comic man.’ He also ranked at first place for idol stars as rated by professionals from TV broadcasting industry. Co-starring Ahn Suk Hwan also praised him as “not only handsome, but always takes care of others around, has positive thinking. The future is bright,” attracting everyone’s attention.

The production team also said, “Because he is the lead actor, the share of filming is a lot, can be very hard, but on the filming scene, he fully plays the role of creating the atmosphere. He is also not slack in practicing acting.”

In this regard, Park Yoochun said, “Thank the audience for accepting a variety of roles without confusion, and really into watching the drama. I’m interpreting a variety of images under a variety of circumstances, but the more so, the more intense the role of Crown Prince Lee Gak. Please look forward to the remaining episodes.”

Rooftop Prince Preview 19

Modern Era

SeNa and his lover Tae Moo decide to kill Tae Yong (hit with a car)

But, Pak Ha realise their plan

She ran faster to save her lover prince

she sacrifice herself to rescue her love and let the car hit herself!

Simillarity

Joseon Era

Princess and her lover (joseon TaeMoo) decide to kill prince (with poisoning his dinner)

 Bu Yong realise their plan

she sacrifice herself to rescue her love and eat it instead of him and after poison affect her body she fall to pond!

Han Ji Min Died to Save Park Yuchun in Rooftop Prince?

But there are many voices about the possibility of Se Na, instead of Park Ha, who would be hit and killed by the car. 300 years ago, at the time when Crown Princess was murdered, many viewers pointed out that the face of Crown Princess was not shown in the end, and reasoned that the person who fell into the water and drowned is not Crown Princess but Bu Yong (previous life of Park Ha).
The speculation is that at that time, Bu Yong passed away when wearing the clothes of Crown Princess. In modern times, it can be inferred that Se Na would suffered from the fate of death when wearing the clothes of Park Ha. Especially the anxious face shown by Se Na when Park Ha jumps onto the car, or through Se Na’s lines which suggest that she might die, “If I died once and for all, would I be forgivven?”
Netizens who watched the broadcast said, “If Park Ha died really can not be justified,” “Only Se Na died would clear off the notoriety of the so-called bad guys,” “Our Lee Gak is pitiful, what to do?” “I vote for Se Na gets hit by the car while Tae Moo fell into the reservoir” and so on.
