[120615] Jung Yumi mentions Park Yuchun in her interview

I thought Park Yoochun would be someone who know about his popularity and position. I thought he would be the hardest to become a friend with. I also had prejudices about the fact he was originally a singer.

However, from the first filming on, he showed an explosive affinity. Not only me, but also to the other staffs, actors and actresses, he approached intimately. And seeing this, I thought to myself that I thought wrong. He worked hard to the extent of not making one think of him as a singer because his feeling as an actor was strong. And that’s why I am thankful to him.

[120614] Park Yoochun’s special aura in daily life

Singer and actor Micky Yoochun as seen at Mekeyong Media for an interview.

Handsome’ and ‘cool’ are not enough to describe him. He changes the air around him and mental destruction is when you make eye contact with him.

He’s got this special aura about him. He laughs, plays jokes and doesn’t care about what’s around him. He is so unrealistic.

He’s a model just standing still.

He refers to everyone on site and seems different from when we see him on TV.

However, when the camera is on, he is a professional.

When he comes back to daily life, he is free again and a romanticist. He is a wonderful young man in his 20s.

Attention around him doesn’t settle easily even when he is walking out.

[120613] Interview- Park Yoochun, This man has been hooked on acting properly

“Acting is very interesting. Through Rooftop Prince, I was happy to know how interesting it could be when expressing the character.”

The JYJ member, the fore-runner of the Korean Wave and the idol member who send fans from all over the world into a frenzy – Park Yoochun. He is also called an ‘actor’. Among the ‘acting-dols’ (idols who act) who we can easily see in dramas, Park Yoochun is really unequaled. Comparing to other ‘acting-dols’, or rather the standards of other actors, Park Yoochun’s acting is really good. It is amazing as he is originally a singer.

Park Yoochun was different from the start. In his first acting appearance in Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010), he showed his acting ability. In the following year, he acted in Miss Ripley and the SBS drama Rooftop Prince that has just completed its broadcast recently. In all three dramas, his acting ability was so superb that people wonder if he was originally an actor.

Now, Park Yoochun has gotten the ‘taste’ of acting properly. In just three dramas, we cannot say if his experience came early or late. Through Rooftop Prince, he has strengthened his position as an actor firmly and got to experience the ‘taste’ of acting completely. Now, it is the start of feeling the fun and happiness of acting. It is clear that actor Park Yoochun will show even better performances in the future. So, we will wait even longer to see him again.

“Rooftop Prince is a drama that I have relied on and received comfort from.”

- While acting in Rooftop Prince, you have received favourable reviews?
It is not because my acting is good; rather I think my personal experiences were shown through my acting. I really felt that experiences help in it. As I have experienced crying bitterly before, it was possible for me to cry in scenes like that. I think I used a lot of personal experiences as a basis in this drama. When encountering another dramas, I also feel nervous as I face limitations. So now, I want to experience many things since I have the ability and time to do it. Even if I am out having a meal, I am a person who always observes people’s small movements.

- In your view, what kind of drama is Rooftop Prince?
It was a drama that I have a lot of affection for. I think I only found out how much love I have for the drama after it was completed. I had affection for the drama itself, but it was a drama that had meaning for Lee Gak and myself. Although I had many shortcomings, I was glad that I was able to act more naturally as compared to the previous drama and immerse into the role of Lee Gak. Also, it was a drama that I have depended on. Since I had plunged into the drama, I was able to act and I received comfort for what I had been experiencing at that point in time. I only recognized it after the drama had ended.

- Rooftop Prince clinched the first place in viewers’ rating of the Wednesday-Thursday dramas at the last moment. What is the secret to its success?

When I received the script for episode 19 and 20, I really felt the longing that Lee Gak (Park Yoochun) and Park Ha (Han Ji Min) had for each other. So, I could act in a realistic way. Actually, when I was reading the script for the last episode, I was hoping that the viewers’ ratings would overturn. Although Rooftop Prince is a fantasy drama, it appeals to anyone who has experienced longing. It was not simply a sad episode for viewers; rather it was a last episode that viewers could cry while watching it together.

- Are you able to break free from the character Lee Gak since you are so immersed in it?

I think I will be able to break free from the role naturally as time passes. I am very thankful to the character. I really feel that Lee Gak is a close friend of mine. I am actually more amazed to find out that I can feel this kind of emotion and feeling from a character in a drama.

- Do Lee Gak’s way of speaking and actions show even though you don’t notice them?

Since the start of the drama, I was troubled by Lee Gak’s way of speaking, pace and dynamics. Among all his actions, I have adopted the action of clasping the hands behind the back and it shows even on a regular day. As I feel comfortable with it, it became natural. I have been clasping my hands behind my back more than I did before. When I walk with my arms beside my body, I feel that they dangle. I have become more conscious of them.
“I just went with it. There were no sense of burden and worry.”

- It seems that you have more affection for Rooftop Prince than your previous drama.

Rooftop Prince was very different from Miss Ripley due to start of the drama shooting and my mental attitude. I felt a huge sense of burden while filming for Miss Ripley. I had little time to prepare and I felt pressure, as I had to act well in this drama just like what I had done in Sungkyunkwan Scandal. I had no confidence in myself. So, I even said that I couldn’t do it during the first shooting. Luckily, I was able to recompose myself and complete the filming till the end. During the start of Rooftop Prince filming, I never once thought that I should do well in it. It was just “Let’s act!”. I just went with it. I didn’t have a sense of burden where I told myself that had to do well. I wasn’t worried if I was able to do it or not. While I was filming like that, I felt that acting was really fun. Through Rooftop Prince, I was happy to know how interesting it could be when expressing the character.

- You had to act as two different characters in the historical and modern times. Were there any difficulties?

As I had many different scenes, I had to focus more since it could falter if I missed even an hour of filming. The most difficult scenes were those with Yong Tae Yong. Lee Gak and Yong Tae Yong’s dialogues and paces were different. So, I found it hard to act as Yong Tae Yong since I had become familiar with acting as Lee Gak. Even if it was Yong Tae Yong, it wasn’t 100% him as Lee Gak imitated Yong Tae Yong. Occasionally, the look in my eyes had to change sharply, so it was hard for me to get into the character in the first half of the drama.

- Between Lee Gak and Yong Tae Yong, who is more similar to you in reality?

It is ambiguous. Yong Tae Yong is a free-spirited person who does things naturally. On the other hand, Lee Gak is a person who is brought up in a confined environment. My liberalism and optimism are more similar to Yong Tae Yong. I think my situation is like Lee Gak after I have become a celebrity. So, I had learned about the sense of responsibility from Lee Gak.

[120608] JYJ's Park Proves Himself a Prince of Prime time Soaps

Many boy band singers try their hand at acting but few have managed to pull it off with such aplomb as Park Yoochun of JYJ. He has garnered praise for his acting abilities in a series of dramas over the last three years, but it was his role in the recently-ended SBS TV series "Rooftop Prince" that really impressed critics as he showed a greater maturity as a master of his craft.

In the drama, he played the role of Lee Gak, a Chosun Dynasty prince who traveled through time to the present. Park initially won over viewers with his comic antics, but as the story developed he gradually fleshed out the character and got the audience more involved in the drama by showing the prince's hidden charisma and hinting at his secret.

"I was lucky that I got to act in a drama where I felt totally connected to the script, and was able to work with other great actors and a terrific production crew," he said. "If I had let the responsibility of playing the male lead overwhelm me, the job would have been exhausting. But I was able to immerse myself in my role and it was great fun."

Park is scheduled to head to the Indonesian surfing Mecca of Bali for a photo shoot this month before he meets with fans and shoots commercials in Korea. He said he will be sifting through more TV scripts before JYJ gets back into full swing next year.

[120607] OBS News Interviews Yoochun

The singing part in Rooftop Prince: “It’s very difficult to sing the part ‘tied tightly with a rope’”. A recorded version instead of live singing was used in ‘Miss Ripley’ so this is the first time that I have to sing while filming for a TV drama. I have to sing like Lee Gak but I have the habit of humming unconsciously. Therefore, in order not to sing like a singer, I have put much thought into it. Very interesting.” [T/N: Click here for the singing part ]

“The overwhelming sadness made me stay focused instead.”
Park Yoochun experienced the sadness of losing his father before the official release of Roof Top Prince. Since Rooftop Prince is a romantic comedy, people were concerned about whether he has overcome his feelings.

But this makes Park Yoochun stronger. Park Yoochun explained, “It was just that at that time, I went through something that anyone would experience. And by thinking so, I felt comforted. Because I felt too miserable and my heart felt so much pain that that instant became a turning point at which I was able to keep myself away from confusion and stayed focused.”

“At the funeral with my brother, there were many people who came with their condolences. For our future days, I have the thought of making my family have more trust in me and can depend on me.”

“I haven’t had a fight with my mum for over ten years but we had a big fight recently. From my mum’s point of view, she felt sad for me and wanted me to bear fewer burdens. But I did not agree and there were conflicts between us. On the day after the fight, I had to leave home for the drama filming but I felt weighed down with sadness. So I called my mum and apologized and then I sent her and grandma to Jeju Island.”

[120605] ‘Come to Play’ clarifies rumors about JYJ’s Yoochun and editing

Recently, MBC‘s talk program ‘Come to Play‘ came under fire for cutting out a segment that mentioned JYJ‘s Yoochun.
The issue started when one of the guests, Kim So Hyun, posted her feelings about the broadcast on Twitter: “What is this? Why were Yoochun oppa’s parts all cut out?”
The viewers were left even more confused as the press release for the episode, released prior to broadcast, had indicated that Yoochun’s stories would indeed be featured on the episode. However, when it was actually aired, no mention of the JYJ member took place.
In a response to the questions and rumors surrounding the editing, the producers of ‘Come to Play’ released a clarification, saying, “There wasn’t a particular reason such as outside pressure. Since there were six guests with several different stories, a few of them were edited out.”
“There wasn’t much material concerning Park Yoochun during the taping,” they continued. “The talk was left out due to filming and editing issues. It is our mistake that it was included in the press release but wasn’t broadcast.”

[120604] Park Yoochun Dreams of Going to Cannes with Park Yoohwan

Park Yoo Chun said he dreams of walking the red carpet of Cannes with his brother Park Yoo Hwan in a recent interview with enews.

To a question asking whether he has anything he dreams of doing, he answered, “I want to go to the Cannes Film Festival with [Park] Yoo Hwan. This is my next goal for now.”

The two have already walked red carpets in Korea together for the 2011 MBC Drama Awards held on December 30, 2011 and the Paeksang Arts Awards held in April 2012.

Park Yoo Chun said, “Even if it’s for different pieces, if we get a chance to go I hope we’ll get to stand on the red carpet of Cannes together. We went together for the Paeksang Arts Awards, and that felt great. I was so proud that we brothers were sitting at the same table. I hope we can take a lot of pictures at Cannes.”
He then added, “Yoo Hwan is better at English than I am. I think I’ll be able to use my brother as an interpreter. (Laugh)”

Park Yoo Chun recently gathered much popularity for his Crown Prince Lee Gak role in SBS’ Rooftop Prince.

[120604] Yoochun Interview: ‘Lee Gak’ Park Yoochun, If He Studies As Hard, He Can Be Top In Seoul University

Group ‘JYJ”s member Park Yoochun (27)’s acting is undergoing an evolution.

Compared to the debut work KBS 2TV’s ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ (2010), the greater depth (in acting) has led SBS TV’s fusion sageuk ‘Rooftop Prince’. Compared to the time of MBC TV’s ‘Miss Ripley’, he is now more relaxed and comfortable in acting out his expressions. The timeslip fantasy theme appropriately mixed comic and earnestness, and earned high praises from the public by perfectly digesting and individually playing 3 roles. These are the achievements of an actor who has debuted for 3 years.

“In ‘Miss Ripley’, due to the burden from the end of ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’, the thought that I need to act well was great. That thought bounded me and I could not act freely, this time round, I threw away that greed to act well. Although it is also true that the sense of responsibility is huge, during filming, it was as though I received consolation from character ‘Lee Gak’” are his thoughts.

Exiting from the intense war among Wed-Thurs drama with the outstanding result of being 1st in viewership ratings was not smooth-sailing at the beginning. March 21, after deciding on the schedule of the first broadcast, he was met with the loss of his father and had to leave the filming site. Then, before the grief can fade, he returned to the filming site, and from episode 4 onwards, it was a race against time with a schedule that was almost live broadcast.

“The content to be broadcast on Thursday was filmed till 6pm before we can rest for half a day. Then, to film for next week Wednesday’s content, we returned immediately to the filming site. I spent the week at the filming site, and requested from the production team for some makeup and hairstyling time. I wanted to spend that time sleeping, even if it was a little while…”

There was pain psychologically as well. “At the beginning, I wasn’t able to be funny at parts that needed me to, I couldn’t adjust my emotions in light-hearted scenes. Fortunately, with the help of staff and actors at the filming site, I could expel a little of the grief. Because of these words ‘Have you had your meal?’, I started to be consoled and gradually found back my smile. For the people around me to treat me as though nothing happened, it became a great comfort for me.”

Grateful to ‘Park Ha’ Han Jimin (30) as well. Although she is a sister elder by 4 years, compared to other pieces of work, being able to get more intimate faster is a factor allowing the familiarisation of the filming site as well. “We are very in tune. Because Jimin noona received (my acting) well and led (my acting) well, I was able to do well. I thought she would be cold like she was in ‘Padam Padam’, but she was instead easygoing. She approached me like she knew me for a long time, thus of all the other pieces of work, it was the fastest for me to be close and to feel comfortable.”

“It feels like we’ve known each other for 10 years though we’ve only met for 3~4 months. The scenes involving the two of us is aplenty, thus the time for us to talk is aplenty too, but her straightforwardness was unlike other females. Purity 100%” and “Even while holding hands during filming, there was nothing (between us), thus there is no possibility of us becoming a couple.”

However, he confidently expressed that while filming the drama, “I loved Park Ha more than anyone else”. Park Yoochun claimed, “‘Park Ha’ and Han Jimin are too different. Noona is like a neighbourhood noona, but when changed into ‘Park Ha’, she changes into someone who is more delicate than anyone else and I just want to hug her.”

What if it was not ‘Lee Gak’ but Park Yoochun? “I think that I won’t fall in love for ‘Park Ha’. Although it is good for one to be strong in living skills, but Park Ha is too strong. Also, because even crown princess ‘Hong Sena’ won’t know when I would die, if time allows, I would like to find someone else,” and laughed.

“Ending this piece of work this time round, I have greater aspirations for acting,” expressing his passion for acting. He said, “Normally, I would first plan a break, but for the piece of work this time, the sense of satisfaction is to the extent that I don’t want to rest. Also, what’s different from the time when ‘Miss Ripley’ ended is that I want to quickly find a new role to freely and interestingly portray. This year’s goal is to complete 2 more pieces of work. It doesn’t matter if it’s a movie or a play,” and showed high morale.

“A genre I wish to take on? I want to do something active like action. Or someone with split personality or a psychopath, who can smile while killing. Thriller too, if there’s a chance.”

120603 Han Ji Min Clarifies Physical Affection With Park Yoochun Issue

On May 30, Han Ji Min was interviewed about her most recent drama, SBS ‘Rooftop Prince.’ She endlessly complimented JYJ’s Park Yoochun, saying “I almost felt bad that I had a stereotype against him for being a singer because he tried so hard.”
About the wedding scene, she said “In the script, it only said to cry twice. But both Yoochun and I got so carried away with our emotions that we shed every single tear drop we had in us. At first we didn’t know how to act the scene out but when we actually started filming we were able to feel it.”
Also, she was asked about the physical affection she had with Yoochun. In the final group picture of ‘Rooftop Prince’ actors and staff members, Yoochun was patting Han Ji Min’s back and Han Ji Min was stroking Park Yoochun’s cheeks. About this, Ji Min said, “We cried so much during the last filming session. Because I was crying so much Yoochun comforted me by patting my back. I had my arm linked to Yoochun, but because we were squeezed to fit into the picture, I didn’t know where else to pat him so my hand just went to his cheeks. I didn’t think this would become such a big deal,” laughing.
On the other hand, Yoochun, during an interview, had revealed Han Ji Min to be someone like a “older sister that I knew for 10 years.”

[PICS] 120601 Park Yoochun at Incheon Airport

The information I get from some source,
Park Yoochun in Airport because he was going to interview international

Choi Woo Shik’s Mention of Yoochun In His Interview

Choi Woo Shik: “The bias judgement against idols went away due to Park Yoochun.”

Actor Park Yoochun tore down the high-mighty Hallyu stars mental barrier that Choi Woo Shik had.

“When I was living in Canada, DBSK already has its high popularity there. Therefore I was more familiar to Micky Yoochun than Park Yoochun. It just felt that he is someone who is living in another different world from me. I thought there would be some invisible wall (between us) but there was none. Though I worried if I would look funny but this is just my own thinking. Even though he has such popularity, he is not haughty. Park Yoochun hyung always think and worry for others. Respecting other’s opinions irregardless of age factor. Now I am a fan of, not Micky Yoochun, but actor Park Yoochun. Looking at hyung and had a thought that I ‘should become someone like him’. He is really something. Very professional.”

Choi Woo Shik mentioned the reason that he likes the atmosphere of Rooftop Prince’s filming, and that is Park Yoochun and Han Ji Min. As both of them led very well, he is able to act very happily.

“During the beginning of filming, Park Yoochun hyung faced the loss of his father. Upon seeing the return of hyung to the filming set, I thought hard on what to say to him. Just standing aside or saying anything meaningless will be unsuitable too, or maybe that’s just me worrying. In the end, it’s Yoochun hyung who smiled first in order not to worry others, displaying as though everything’s fine. He is really a great person.”

In other interviews Woosik has also said the followings;

Woosik: “Thanks to Yuchun, I’m able to be on the hallyu wave, I feel really surprised that whole world is watching our drama.”

Woosik: “Being able to feel the increasing popularity after RP, I feel thankful to yuchun. he is someone that people have no reason to hate.”
