Choi Woo Shik’s Mention of Yoochun In His Interview

Choi Woo Shik: “The bias judgement against idols went away due to Park Yoochun.”

Actor Park Yoochun tore down the high-mighty Hallyu stars mental barrier that Choi Woo Shik had.

“When I was living in Canada, DBSK already has its high popularity there. Therefore I was more familiar to Micky Yoochun than Park Yoochun. It just felt that he is someone who is living in another different world from me. I thought there would be some invisible wall (between us) but there was none. Though I worried if I would look funny but this is just my own thinking. Even though he has such popularity, he is not haughty. Park Yoochun hyung always think and worry for others. Respecting other’s opinions irregardless of age factor. Now I am a fan of, not Micky Yoochun, but actor Park Yoochun. Looking at hyung and had a thought that I ‘should become someone like him’. He is really something. Very professional.”

Choi Woo Shik mentioned the reason that he likes the atmosphere of Rooftop Prince’s filming, and that is Park Yoochun and Han Ji Min. As both of them led very well, he is able to act very happily.

“During the beginning of filming, Park Yoochun hyung faced the loss of his father. Upon seeing the return of hyung to the filming set, I thought hard on what to say to him. Just standing aside or saying anything meaningless will be unsuitable too, or maybe that’s just me worrying. In the end, it’s Yoochun hyung who smiled first in order not to worry others, displaying as though everything’s fine. He is really a great person.”

In other interviews Woosik has also said the followings;

Woosik: “Thanks to Yuchun, I’m able to be on the hallyu wave, I feel really surprised that whole world is watching our drama.”

Woosik: “Being able to feel the increasing popularity after RP, I feel thankful to yuchun. he is someone that people have no reason to hate.”

[NEWS] 120530 Park Yoochun Overcome Grief to Shine in Acting

The passionate performance by Park Yoochun who overcome pain shines until the end of the drama.

SBS Wednesday and Thursday drama series “Rooftop Prince” concluded on the evening of May 24th, 2012 with a touching ending of the love of “Gak-Ha lover” Lee Gak (Park Yoochun) and Park Ha (Han Ji Min) that spans beyond 300 years.
The image of majestic Crown Prince in Joseon Dynasty, somewhat absurd but pleasant adaptation period in modern times, and the love with Park Ha which is sometimes funny and sometimes touching yet saddening, Park Yoochun is using a variety of acting skills to lead the pulse of the whole story, showing a more mature acting.
Park Yoochun played the role of Crown Prince Lee Gak who time traveled together with his subjects to 21st century Seoul in “Rooftop Prince”. The love with lover Park Ha which cannot be fulfilled in the past life, is reunited in romance that spans beyond 300 years, touching the viewers.
This time the role of Lee Gak is the competition of the characters which used to play by Park Yoochun previously in the KBS 2TV “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and MBC “Miss Ripley”, showing the many images of well loved Park Yoochun in multifaceted. The unique theme of time traveling, shuttling between the historical drama and modern drama, he perfectly interpreted the acts in two eras, bringing fresh impact and fun to the audience.
In particular, Park Yoochun met with unfortunate event of the death of his father right before the premiere of the drama, but he endured grief, and threw himself into the acting, making the role even more shining. Park Yoochun who returned to the drama earlier than production team’s expected said that he would not let the hardworking crew members, fans and viewers wait any longer.
During the shooting, Park Yoochun wrote, Dad, miss you like crazy,” making the fans worried. Recently, he wrote, “The filming that remains few more days that longer than ever, yet pass faster than ever. ‘Rooftop Prince’, no matter it’s pain or joy, is a drama that made me strong,” expressing his feelings, showing more robust himself.
The busy schedule also led to a traffic accident. Park Yoochun experienced traffic accident while on the way to filming scene on the early morning of early May, and suffered pain in the neck and waist. But he did not get to the hospital in order to complete the shooting schedule, insisted on shooting, and once again making everyone marvel.
Experiencing pain and putting himself through the mill, yet still able to interpret the role so perfectly, the acting of Park Yoochun is making “Rooftop Prince” even more shining.

[RECAP] 120530 allkpop TV Guide: Rooftop Prince Ep. 17-20 (Finale)

Official Synopsis:
A prince from the Chosun era, Yi Gak (JYJ‘s Yoochun), along with his entourage, which includes Song Man Bo (Lee Min Ho), Do Chi San (Choi Woo Shik) and Woo Young Sul (Jung Seok Won), are catapulted 300 years into the future. As he attempts to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the princess he loved, he unexpectedly finds himself in the city of Seoul in the year 2012, where he comes across a woman who looks exactly like his beloved crown princess…

Recap of Ep. 17-18:
Yi Gak is able to rescue Park Ha (Han Ji Min) from the frozen truck, with Yong Sool’s help, giving up Tae Young’s cell phone to Tae Mu. Meanwhile, CEO Jang reveals the truth to Se Na, that she is in fact her true daughter, inviting her to go to Hong Kong with him. After Park Ha recuperates, Yi Gak, posing as Tae Young, and Park Ha frighten Tae Mu when “Tae Young” acts like he recognized Park Ha from New York. Park Ha also reveals the postcard with the portrait Tae Young had drawn of her. Tae Mu makes Se Na steal Tae Young’s laptop with the NYC photos, and Tae Young’s grandmother catches her red-handed. Grandmother tries to follow her and ends up falling down the stairs, dying in a pool of blood. Tae Mu urges Se Na to leave for Hong Kong immediately with CEO Jang, but the plan is interrupted when Park Ha reveals to CEO Jang that she is In Joo. Depressed, Se Na leaves for her apartment, waiting for Tae Mu to arrive, but Yi Gak enters the apartment first. Se Na, believing Tae Mu had arrived, asks how Tae Mu can stand brazenly in front of Grandmother’s burial, angering Yi Gak as he punches Tae Mu who enters the scene.
“Tae Young”, who is actually Yi Gak, threatens that Tae Mu and Se Na will pay, leaving the apartment angrily and visiting the real Tae Young in the hospital. While Yi Gak goes on a date with Park Ha, he begins to disappear, scaring himself. Meanwhile, Grandmother’s lawyer gathers the family to announce that Grandmother had left the company to Tae Young, but if Tae Young was not present at the will reading, then Tae Mu will inherit the company. Tae Mu begins forming his evil plan, and leaves a bag of cash and a plane ticket in Yi Gak’s car, framing Yi Gak as an impostor of Tae Young who was planning to steal Grandmother’s money. Yi  Gak is thus arrested, while the family convenes the will reading. Park Ha visits Yi Gak in jail and shows him the initials on Bu Young’s handkerchief. which denotes Bu Young as the actual maker. Yi Gak vanishes completely and reappears outside of the will reading room, where he interrupts the process.
Yi Gak later meets up with Tae Mu and threatens him and Se Na with the news that Yi Gak will have them arrested on the account of Grandmother’s death if they do not resign and return the stolen money. Tae Mu enlists Se Na’s help and beings plotting against Yi Gak. Se Na, acting sad and remorseful towards Park Ha, texts Yi Gak with Park Ha’s phone to meet at the reservoir. Park Ha catches on to Se Na suspicious activities, but brushes it aside. Meanwhile, Se Na, dressed as Park Ha, meets up with Yi Gak. Yi Gak tries to catch her, but Tae Mu drives straight for him. Meanwhile, Park Ha puts the pieces together and catches Tae Mu driving into Yi Gak. Pushing Yi Gak aside, Park Ha stands in the way of the oncoming car.

Recap of Ep. 19-20:
Park Ha is rushed to the hospital after Tae Mu sends her flying into the lake. Her liver is injured and Park Ha’s health begins to deteriorate. Se Na is unnerved at the murder attempt, but at Park Ha and with Yi Gak’s urgent pleas, agrees to transfer her liver if Yi Gak gives up all the company money. While Se Na is ready to transplant her liver, Tae Mu has other ideas and hopes to escape to China with the money, breaking the arrangement. However, Se Na ultimately goes to the hospital and saves Se Na’s life, while Tae Mu is arrested after fighting with  Yi Gak.
As Park Ha recuperates, her peace is interrupted by the abrupt disappearance of Chi San. In order to live happily in the remaining precious moments, she proposes to Yi Gak.  After pondering Park Ha’s request, Yi Gak agrees, and goes on a date with her in the palace grounds, only to be interrupted again by the disappearance of the two other servants. Park Ha and Yi Gak go to her house, where they have a symbolic wedding. After Yi Gak and Park Ha kiss, Yi Gak begins to fade away, leaving Park Ha sobbing for him.
Yi Gak returns to the Chosun era and returns to his prince position with the help of his courtiers. Meanwhile, Minister Hong (father of Hwa Young and Bu Young) and his partner, the reincarnation of Tae Mu, are disturbed that Yi Gak is alive even after the assassination attempt. Yi Gak summons Minister Hong, and reveals what exactly happened with the murder.
Minister Hong had sent Bu Young a letter for Hwa Young with poisoned powder that would be placed on Yi Gak’s persimmons. Bu Young reads the letter, and alarmed, enters Yi Gak’s room, where she finds him talking with Hwa Young. Answering Yi Gak’s riddle herself, she asks to eat the persimmon to save the Prince’s life.
Hwa Young is shocked by Bu Young’s impending death and meets up with her secretly. The two switch identities as Bu Young drowns in the lake. In the present Chosun era, Yi Gak orders the execution of Minister Hong and the reincarnation of Tae Mu, sparing Hwa Young and her mother. Yi Gak reads Bu Young’s last letter, and writes his own to Park Ha, which Park Ha finds in the palace in the present time.
Later, she notices another postcard of her that Tae Young drew, and meets him in the Seoul Tower. Park Ha shakes hands with Tae Young, who momentarily switches to Yi Gak in her vision.

kdramacrazy’s Thoughts:
[Note : This post reflects the opinions of the author, and not necessarily those of allkpop.]

Wow. Just went through a rollercoaster of emotions, ending in a tranquil melancholy with the final moment of ‘Rooftop Prince’. Although the last few episodes were a turmoil of messy, unceremoniously dropped conflicts and resolutions, and makjang elements, I though the last meeting between Tae Young (the reincarnation of Tae Young) and Park Ha was beautiful. I felt that Tae Young becoming a couple with Park Ha, with the reminder that it was still Yi Gak in essence, was the best ending it could possibly have without the beginning of Tae Young’s loveline thrown in the trash. The drama, though, could have elaborated much more on the reincarnating theme of love and history, especially at the expense of the corporate family feud and the Se Na moments. There could have been much more connections drawn between Tae Young and Yi Gak that could make the meeting more poignant. The drama had concentrated much of its effort in making the Chosun and modern day conflict parallel each other that it lost a lot of Tae Young development. All we know about him is that he likes to draw, is a little rebellious, and makes a good vegetable. Even a small detail at the end could have made that moment more special, like the reappearance of the wedding pendant.

JYJ’s Yoochun, “Rooftop Prince” Is No.1 In Ratings

JYJ’s Yoochun, “Rooftop Prince” Is No.1 In Ratings For Wednesday-Thurday Dramas In The Final Episode

As the battle between the 3 broadcast stations come to a close, “Rooftop Prince” emerged victorious in the last round.

KBS2TV’s “The Equator Man” and MBC’s “The King2Hearts” as well as SBS’s “Rooftop Prince” started their broadcast on 21 May, and ended on 24 May.

The ratings war for these dramas were intense. Initially, it was “The King2Hearts”. This drama started off with a viewership of 16.2%, with “Rooftop Prince” at 9.8% and “The Equator Man” at 7.7% ratings.

However, after just 2 weeks, the ratings gap between the 3 stations’ dramas became a lot closer, and the battle intensified. On 5 April, the 6th episode of “Rooftop Prince” hit ratings of 12.5%, overtaking “The King2Hearts” which recorded 12.1% to take the top position. But due to the government elections, both “Rooftop Prince” and “The King2Hearts” delayed their broadcast, and with only “The Equator Man” airing, it recorded ratings of 14.3% and caught up with the others.

“The Equator Man” managed to maintain its top position, aside for the day after the elections (12 April) when it was beaten by “Rooftop Prince”, till the last episode, but “Rooftop Prince” managed a dramatic comeback and took over the no. 1 spot for this final episode.

‘Rooftop Prince’ Yoochun-Han Ji Min’s Love that Lasts 300 Years

During the episode of SBS ‘Rooftop Prince’ that aired on the 23rd of May, Park Yoochun shed tears for his longing for Han Ji Min. Lee Gak (Park Yoochun) becomes time warped back to the Chosun Dynasty and solves the mystery of the murder.
During the episode, Bu Yong (Han Ji Min) dies after intentionally eating the dried persimmons that had poisonous powder on them provided by Hwa Yong (Hong Se Na) in order to save the crowned prince Lee Gak (Park Yoochun). Prior to the event, the princess (Hong Se Na) followed her father’s orders to put poison on the dried persimmons. Bu Yong catches on to the situation and asks Lee Gak to award him with the persimmons for solving Lee Gak’s riddle.
Bu Yong eats the poisoned persimmons and saves Lee Gak’s life. The reason Bu Yong ate the persimmons without revealing the evil plot was because she knew the danger her family could face if she revealed the truth.
Lee Gak finds a letter written by Bu Yong. Before her death, Bu Yong wrote ‘There are some good things about death. I can say something that I have kept secret all my life. I loved you. I was fond of you from the very beginning. I’ll live even in death, I’ll die even with life, even after hundreds of year, I will love you.’
From then on, Lee Gak cannot help but remember Park Ha (Han Ji Min) even after 300 years have passed. Lee Gak sheds tears remembering the members that had happened. Lee Gak writes a letter to Park Ha, ‘Park Ha, I arrived safely. How are you? If you could read this letter, it must be 300 years from now,’ and hid the letter under a pillar in the palace.
Park Ha finds the letter 300 years later in the present time and longs for the love of her life Lee Gak.

JYJ and Han Ji Min Facebook Update: The last episode of Rooftop Prince [Episode 20]

Today you can watch the last episode of Rooftop Prince. Met YuChun when he was shooting the last episode.

Credit: JYJ Facebook

Han Ji Min revealed she had to wear hanbok for the last episode of Rooftop Prince.

The actress revealed a photo of herself through her Facebook page under the title ‘Bu Yong in the last episode’.

In the photo, Han Ji Min is shown as the calm Bu Yong that appeared in the first episode of Rooftop Prince.

With the release of the photo, viewers became curious on whether Park Ha (Han Ji Min) would go through a time slip to the past, as Han Ji Min was dressed exactly as she was for the first episode as Bu Yong, yet held the script for the last episode in her hands, complete with the veil covering half of her face due to her burn marks.

In the May 23 broadcast, it turned out that the victim of the Crown Princess murder incident was not Hwa Yong (Jung Yu Mi) but Bu Yong. There are two possibilities, then, on how Bu Yong could appear in the Joseon period.

The drama could include a flashback to the past before the murder in its last episode, or else it could have Park Ha travel back in time to the past to land in the Joseon period.

Netizens left comments such as, ‘I can’t tell how this is going to end. So curious’, ‘Bu Yong is so pretty’ and ‘I can’t believe today’s the last.’

Rooftop Prince will come to a close with its 20th episode to air on May 24.

Park Yoo Chun Shows He Can Act with His Feet on ‘Rooftop Prince

Park Yoo Chun moved his viewers to tears

with his feet.

The May 23 broadcast of SBS’ Rooftop Princeshowed Park Ha (Han Ji Min) come close to death after being hit by Yong Tae Moo’s (Lee Tae Sung) car.

Yong Tae Moo tried to kill Lee Gak (Park Yoo Chun) by hitting him with his car, but Park Ha unexpectedly jumped in and took the blow. Lee Gak made it out without a scratch because Park Ha had pushed him out of the way, but Park Ha herself was hit and pushed into a lake.

The image of Lee Gak sobbing over Park Ha floating on the water overlapped with the image of Lee Gak sobbing over the death of his Crown Princess at Joseon’s Buyongji and brought the drama’s viewers to tears.

They seemed especially impressed at how Lee Gak’s every step expressed the extreme sadness he was feeling - which is especially ironic, considering that Koreans use the term
acting with your feet to indicate something negative.

Viewers left reactions such as, ‘I thought my heart would burst when Lee Gak walked listlessly calling out to Park Ha’, ‘His every step drips with tears’ and ‘I wish Lee Gak would go through a time slip again.’

Rooftop Prince will come to a close with its 20th episode on May 24.

The photo shows Crown Prince Lee Gak (played by Park Yoo Chun), garbed in his royal robes and sitting at a place which appears to be the Changdeuk Palace. The photo was taken by one of the drama’s crew members and was shared in his Twitter account.

Netizens and fans of ‘The Rooftop Prince’ have expressed their utmost curiosity as to how the final two episodes will turn out. They are all the more concerned with the love story of Lee Gak and Park Ha (played by Han Ji Min) – will it end as a tragedy or will it have a happy ending?

Soon after, Song Man Bo (Lee Min Ho) and Woo Yong Sul (Jung Suk Won) are in the elevator with Lee Gak and Park Ha when Song Man Bo and Woo Yong Sul suddenly disappear. Lee Gak and Park Ha becomes nervous catching onto what will happen next.

Throughout time, Lee Gak has been appearing and disappearing more and more as each episode aired, hinting at the fact that Lee Gak will soon be time warped back into the Chosun Dynasty. On the 18th episode that aired on May 17 proved that Lee Gak will inevitably have to return to the Chosun Dynasty soon.

With a single episode left of the drama ‘Rooftop Prince,’ there are still two mysteries remaining that the audience are dying to have solved. The first mystery is the truth behind the crowned princess’s assassination. The person who murdered the princess is still questionable. And the question behind who was the person that died in the pond is still unsolved. Was it Hwa Yong (Jung Yoo Mi) or Bo Yong (Han Ji Min)?

In addition, what will happen to Yong Tae Yong (Yoochun), who is currently in a coma? What will happen to the love line between Park Ha, who is in the current era and Lee Gak, who is from the Chosun Dynasty? Which love line will end happily ever after?

Rooftop Prince Preview 19

Modern Era

SeNa and his lover Tae Moo decide to kill Tae Yong (hit with a car)

But, Pak Ha realise their plan

She ran faster to save her lover prince

she sacrifice herself to rescue her love and let the car hit herself!

Simillarity

Joseon Era

Princess and her lover (joseon TaeMoo) decide to kill prince (with poisoning his dinner)

 Bu Yong realise their plan

she sacrifice herself to rescue her love and eat it instead of him and after poison affect her body she fall to pond!

Han Ji Min Died to Save Park Yuchun in Rooftop Prince?

But there are many voices about the possibility of Se Na, instead of Park Ha, who would be hit and killed by the car. 300 years ago, at the time when Crown Princess was murdered, many viewers pointed out that the face of Crown Princess was not shown in the end, and reasoned that the person who fell into the water and drowned is not Crown Princess but Bu Yong (previous life of Park Ha).
The speculation is that at that time, Bu Yong passed away when wearing the clothes of Crown Princess. In modern times, it can be inferred that Se Na would suffered from the fate of death when wearing the clothes of Park Ha. Especially the anxious face shown by Se Na when Park Ha jumps onto the car, or through Se Na’s lines which suggest that she might die, “If I died once and for all, would I be forgivven?”
Netizens who watched the broadcast said, “If Park Ha died really can not be justified,” “Only Se Na died would clear off the notoriety of the so-called bad guys,” “Our Lee Gak is pitiful, what to do?” “I vote for Se Na gets hit by the car while Tae Moo fell into the reservoir” and so on.
